A Long Island, N.Y., attorney can evict his daughter-in-law from the beach cottage she shared with his son prior to their estrangement, a New York state judge has ruled in what the judge called an apparent case of first impression. "As the relationship between a father-in-law and daughter-in-law would not ordinarily be recognized as part of the traditional nuclear family, this court acknowledges that it would be necessary to evaluate the relationship in the context of the 'reality of family life,'" the judge wrote.
