In a trial that has been billed as the “Clash of the Digital Titans,” a judge on the Delaware Chancery Court began hearing testimony Monday in a corporate governance battle between eBay, the popular online auction site, and Craigslist, the online classified advertising site.

In the suit, eBay claims that when it purchased a minority ownership stake in Craigslist in 2004, it was promised a seat on the Craigslist board and expected that the companies would begin cooperating with the goal of one day merging.
