The National Rifle Association‘s New Jersey affiliate filed suit on Tuesday to overturn a state law limiting handgun purchases to one a month, saying it is pre-empted by federal law.

The suit, Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs v. Corzine, 3:10-cv-00271, filed in federal court in Trenton, N.J., seeks preliminary and permanent injunctive relief against enforcement of the One Gun Law, which went into effect on Jan. 1.
