In the days following the earthquake that hit Haiti on Jan. 12, The Am Law Daily checked in with a number of law firms that were organizing relief efforts. We were impressed by how quickly the firms mobilized, announcing contributions and other forms of support.

One firm’s announcement stood out. Sutherland Asbill & Brennan‘s employees would contribute to ServeHAITI, a faith-based organization that works on the ground in the Caribbean nation. Additionally, partner Peter Anderson planned to travel to the country together with two American doctors to volunteer in any way needed. Anderson, a board member and treasurer of the nonprofit, set out for Haiti on Monday, Jan. 18. He returned home to Georgia one week later. We spoke with him shortly after his return about ServeHAITI’s mission and efforts, and about the enormity of the challenges faced by the people of Haiti.
