Chalk up a win for the Federal Trade Commission now that U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose of the Western District of Pennsylvania has shut down a telemarketing operation run by an East Pittsburgh firm and ordered more than $4.7 million in restitution to consumers.

In the suit, FTC lawyers argued that Magazine Solutions Inc. engaged in a nationwide telemarketing scam that targeted young mothers with promises of valuable coupons when, in fact, they were luring them into buying unwanted magazine subscriptions.
