The Los Angeles Times reports that the Coast Guard has suspended its search for Thomas Kirschbaum, an employee benefits partner at Irell & Manella in Los Angeles, who was being treated as a missing person since his empty sailboat washed ashore on a Venice, Calif., beach on Sunday.

At the time of his disappearance, the 55-year-old Kirschbaum was returning from a race to Santa Catalina Island on his 30-foot sailboat, which ran aground about a mile south of Santa Monica Pier late Sunday afternoon.
