San Francisco’s Carroll, Burdick & McDonough has shed its asbestos insurance defense practice group as the firm repositions itself for higher-end work.

James Cunningham and Richard Ames, who were chairman and vice chairman of Carroll Burdick’s toxic tort practice, have joined the San Francisco office of Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor as partners. Making the move with them were associates Susanne Arani and Jeffrey Thayer, along with some staff. Their first day was Monday.
