Being well-liked is important for upward career mobility. I mean, if you drop the ball and accidentally send a letter to opposing counsel instead of your client, the partner will be way more forgiving if you are otherwise a likeable dude. If you commit the same error, but you are an arrogant schmuck, no one will ever let you hear the end of it.
