As the sun sets earlier each day and you pack up the beach blankets and boogie boards, it’s time to think about transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall. In some firms and businesses, casual dress often moves to professional attire, trading in polo shirts and khakis for button-down oxfords and suits. By planning ahead, making simple changes and refreshing your wardrobe, you can be ready for the cooler weather with style. Here are a few steps to help make it just a little easier:

• Take a look at your summer wardrobe and find the pieces that are transitional, like cotton blouses, light-weight blazers and button-down shirts. Pack away anything that is strictly summer attire like linen suits and separates and sun dresses. But remember — we could have a few more weeks of hot weather, so keep a few pieces out, like your favorite polo shirts for men, and for ladies, skirts and pants in transitional fabrics.
