Lawyers can sue deadbeat clients pro se and still recover legal fees under the offer-of-judgment rule, a New Jersey appeals court held Monday.

The judges, in Vinick v. Lipka, A-0982-09, affirmed an award of nearly $50,000 in legal fees to Livingston, N.J., solo Philip Vinick Jr. on top of the $76,224 in unpaid fees he recovered at trial.
