The main event in a widely publicized government attack on insider trading is set to begin this morning with the selection of a jury in the trial of Galleon Group hedge fund founder Raj Rajaratnam.
Mr. Rajaratnam will walk into Southern District Judge Richard J. Holwell’s courtroom with a defense team that faces the daunting task of undermining strong evidence that he was at the center of conspiracies that made him more than $40 million by exploiting illegal tips on stocks in 35 different companies from corporate insiders, consultants and hedge fund professionals.
