Jones Day announced on Thursday that it is sending bankruptcy bigwig Corinne Ball to London to head the firm’s restructuring and distressed M&A efforts in Europe as banks there look to unload assets while others explore investment opportunities.

Ball, who appeared on the cover of The American Lawyer‘s September 2009 issue after advising automaker Chrysler on its quick 42-day drive through Chapter 11 proceedings, was named an American Lawyer Dealmaker of the Year in 2009 for her role rescuing bond insurer FGIC and again in 2010 for her Chrysler work.
