While large firms in Pennsylvania have recently reported increases in associate hiring following a recession-induced lull during the past few years, midsize firms said they aren’t currently ramping up hiring because, frankly, they never had to ramp it down.

The biggest reason for this, firm leaders and industry watchers told The Legal Intelligencer, is that midsize firms were generally able to avoid most of the drastic changes many large firms were forced to make in response to the down economy.
