Paul A. Jones pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, a fully loaded .380 caliber Baikal semiautomatic pistol, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2). After calculating Jones’s advisory United States Sentencing Guidelines (Guidelines or U.S.S.G.) range to be 77 to 96 months imprisonment (level 21, category VI), the district court*fn2 sentenced Jones at the bottom of his U.S.S.G. range.
