SAN FRANCISCO In lieu of opulent holiday parties, many law firms are decking their own halls this season.
For this year’s holiday party, lawyers and staff at the San Francisco office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe gathered in their conference rooms to hear a Cuban band and dine on beef skewers, pulled pork sandwiches and coconut soup prepared by an on-site caterer, said Robert Shwarts, the office’s managing partner. The staff usually celebrated at outside venues before the recession, but recent parties have been held in the office, where the budget goes further, he noted.
