As the U.S. Supreme Court opens its doors amidst the rest of the government shutdown, there is one media outlet the high court is not letting in. In a recent post on the Poynter Institute’s website, Andrew Beaujon writes that SCOTUSblog still has not been awarded press credentials to the ivory tower.

Beaujon notes that the blog “has become a must-visit site for people interested in court coverage … it strives to report as quickly or faster than traditional news organizations.” It even won a Peabody award earlier this year and posts petitions on line, something that Beaujon says SCOTUS’ own website fails to do.
