SAN FRANCISCO — His fate is still in the hands of a jury. But after more than two and a half years in prison, Walter Liew will soon be released.
U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White ordered Liew’s release on Wednesday morning, citing concerns over his ability to assist in his defense from jail. Liew, an East Bay engineer, is on trial for allegedly stealing trade secrets from E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. and selling them to China.
