President Barack Obama tonight urged Congress to take up patent reform and to restore the Voting Rights Act in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that he said “weakened” the anti-discrimination law.
“Let’s pass a patent reform bill that allows our businesses to stay focused on innovation, not costly, and needless litigation,” Obama said in his State of the Union speech, which lasted more than an hour and focused in large part on the economy.
