A case brought seven years ago over the idea behind the hit television show “Ghost Hunters” has vanished following a California appeals court’s ruling.

Larry Montz and Daena Smoller alleged that NBC Universal Inc. and Universal Television Networks stole their concept for a reality-television show called “Ghost Expeditions: Haunted.” After losing a summary-judgment ruling in a trial court, Universal filed a petition for peremptory writ of mandate before the state’s Second District Court of Appeal to vacate the decision.
