SAN FRANCISCO — A state court of appeal has revived a false advertising suit against Yelp over the site’s claim that it filters out unreliable or biased consumer reviews.
A Los Angeles County judge erred when she dismissed the suit, finding statements Yelp Inc. made about its ability to weed out biased reviews were protected under a state anti-SLAPP law, the Second District Court of Appeal ruled unanimously Thursday.
