U.K. firm Stephenson Harwood has closed its Guangzhou office and currently has no lawyers working from its newest Chinese office in Beijing.

The Guangzhou office, Stephenson Harwood’s first in mainland China, opened in 1994 and targeted investments flowing into the surrounding Guangdong province, which had become a major manufacturing base in southern China. The Guangzhou team also covered neighboring provinces such as Hunan, and it was the firm’s only China office until it opened in Shanghai in 2002.
