The question apparently gripped European regulators, sparking an investigation into possible collusion between major reservation sites and the hospitality industry. That, in turn, inspired a ginormous consumer antitrust class action in the U.S., alleging widespread price-fixing by the top booking sites and the country’s biggest hotel chains.
