SAN FRANCISCO — Tessera Technologies Inc. and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. have settled a long-running patent dispute, and this time they mean it.

San Jose-based Tessera accused ASE last week of trying to renege on a $30 million settlement deal the companies struck in February. Taiwan-based ASE fired back that the deal was never finalized, and Tessera’s claims were “attention-grabbing fiction.”
