SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday nominated U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Leondra Kruger to the California Supreme Court, choosing yet another young Yale Law School alumnus with a sparkling resume who did not travel the traditional state appellate path to the high court.
A former assistant to the solicitor general and an acting principal deputy solicitor general, Kruger, 38, has already argued 13 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the website Oyez. She worked as an associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr from 2004 to 2006, and she clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens and Justice David Tatel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
