SAN FRANCISCO — Striking back against a salacious sexual harassment suit, lawyers for Zillow Inc. claim a former company employee “encouraged and reciprocated” the vulgar text messages she received from a co-worker.

Zillow’s lawyers contend the suit filed by Los Angeles firm Geragos & Geragos in the Central District of California earlier this month tells only half the story. Former Zillow sales consultant Rachel Kremer was not a victim of unwanted sexual overtures from fellow employee Gabe Schmidt, according to the company’s lawyers with Susman Godfrey. Instead, they say Kremer often instigated the lewd text messages. The lawyers filed a motion to dismiss Thursday.
