A New Jersey federal judge on May 1 unsealed an indictment against former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey deputy executive director Bill Baroni and Bridget Kelly, former deputy chief of staff to Gov. Chris Christie.

Both Baroni and Kelly are charged in the April 23 indictment with conspiracy to misapply and misapplication of Port Authority property, as well as counts for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy against civil rights and deprivation of civil rights. The charges stem from the abrupt closure of local access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in September 2013, which the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey has been investigating for about 16 months.
