Southern District Judge Richard Berman is giving the National Football League and Commissioner Roger Goodell plenty to worry about as they consider whether to reach a settlement over the suspension of quarterback Tom Brady for what the judge called “the deflation situation.”
For the second time in a week, the veteran jurist went after the NFL’s lead lawyer, making it clear he was troubled by the vagueness of an NFL-commissioned report that found it was “more probable than not” Brady was “generally aware” that New England Patriots equipment personnel schemed to deflate footballs below the league minimum for the Jan. 18 playoff game with the Indianapolis Colts.
