Members of the tech industry, and their high-powered attorneys, lined up behind Apple Inc. on Thursday in the company’s legal fight with the FBI over access to a passcode-protected iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

Industry groups representing software and app developers as well as a coalition of 17 tech companies that includes Airbnb Inc., eBay Inc., LinkedIn Corp. and Twitter Inc. were among those blitzing the court with legal briefs on Thursday arguing that the government’s request overstepped its legal authority and could put consumer privacy at risk. In all, 16 briefs were filed supporting Apple.
