Geoffrey Akers has seven college degrees, including a doctorate from the University of Connecticut. But he was denied admission by the UConn School of Law twice, in 2012 and 2013, and was put on the school’s wait list in the 1990s.
After the last rejection, the senior citizen from Norwich embarked on a campaign to learn more about the school’s admission policies in hopes of discovering why he wasn’t being let in. He began filing Freedom of Information Act requests in April 2015 seeking to obtain information regarding the demographic makeup of those admitted to the school as well as his own admission file.
