In the April 5 issue, ” Justices Debate Alien Tort Law” (Page 8) incorrectly characterized a lawsuit that was mentioned at a March 30 Supreme Court oral argument about the 1789 Alien Tort Statute. The suit, filed in the Southern District of New York, is not directed at the South African government, but rather was filed against international corporations that allegedly participated in human rights violations during the apartheid era.
