A Clayton County, Ga., jury has ruled that a Riverdale grandmother was not liable for the deaths of five passengers killed when the woman lost control of her minivan and it rolled into a Texas river.
The jury found Ford Motor Co. negligent in not warning the public about rollover problems with its Aerostar minivan, but nonetheless said that the automaker’s negligence was not a cause of the accident and levied no damages. The 2001 crash occurred when Barbara A. Myers was returning to Georgia after picking up two grandchildren to stay with her for the summer.
