Eversheds’ veteran international employment chief, Viv Du-Feu, has quit the national giant for a surprise switch to Welsh practice Capital Law.
Du-Feu, who spent 23 years as a partner at Eversheds, joined Capital last week as an equity partner. The new role, which will see him divide his time between the Welsh firm’s Cardiff and London offices, is part of a wider drive by the 12-partner outfit to beef up its employment capability. At Eversheds, Du-Feu - who was based in Cardiff - oversaw one of the U.K.’s largest employment practices, thought to number around 250 lawyers. The practice is part of Eversheds’ umbrella human resources (HR) group, which also includes immigration law and pensions and is headed up by Cardiff-based HR chief Martin Warren.Brussels office head Stefan Corbanie will now oversee the top 10 U.K. firm’s international and pan-European employment work, with regular clients of the practice including DuPont, Asda and Diageo. However, the firm last month lost out to Beachcroft in a beauty parade to advise regular client McDonald’s on its HR work across a network of 1,200 U.K. restaurants. In a statement, a spokesperson for Eversheds said: “Viv Du-Feu, formerly head of international employment, is no longer a partner at the firm. [His] former role is not continuing in the same guise.”
