Sara Baird follows with horror the news of white supremacist Matthew F.Hale. A one-time civil rights aide and the white mother of an adopted African-American child, she shudders at the racial hate Hale spreads. A lawyer, she hates the idea that Hale could use his law degree to promote his dogma. He advocates for the forced evacuation of all non-whites and Jews from America, for example.
Despite their differences, Hale invokes the name of Sara Baird while he tries to win the privilege of practicing law. And that, says Baird, is as it should be.
