Washington — On the reading list of U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson are recently published biographies of Napoleon Bonaparte and Justice Benjamin Cardozo, and “The Hundred Days,” the 19th installment in Patrick O’Brian’s series of historical novels set on the high seas in Napoleonic times.
“I’m an O’Brian fan,” notes the judge, a former naval officer, in a message relayed through his law clerk.
