In an effort to help its American business clients protect their intellectual property in the European market, Duane Morris & Heckscher has banded together with two foreign law firms to form Alicante Trademark Professionals, S.L.
The joint venture is the first one established in Alicante, Spain, since that city was picked as the permanent site of the headquarters of the European Union’s trademark office, known as the Office for the Harmonization of the Internal Market. All European trademark filings now are processed in Alicante. The city is also the seat of a court having special jurisdiction over European trademark matters.
