Attorneys for defendant Rockwell International Corp. were proclaiming victory after a Denver juryreturned a $1.39 million verdict against the company in a False Claims Act suit.
Although Rockwell was hit with some damages in the April 1 ruling, the U.S. government andwhistleblower James S. Stone were seeking more than $160 million–to be trebled–over failures inRockwell’s clean-up of wastes at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant near Denver. U.S. ex relStone v.
