On Oct. 21, the New York Times reported the case of a suspected sex offender who was arrested in the middle of the night in his home in Evergreen, Colo., and hauled into court in handcuffs and leg irons. He was being held without bail awaiting trial for molesting a 5-year-old girl.

If you are thinking that Evergreen deserves congratulations for great police work, think again. This alleged sex offender was 10 years old. Apparently, a neighbor had reported seeing him pull down his younger sister’s pants and touch her genitals while playing in the yard.
