Columbia Aventura Medical Center and nine of its South Florida subsidiary hospitals allegedly filed false Medicare claims for tens of millions of dollars to the federal government, according to a federal lawsuit unsealed Monday.

The suit was brought by a whistle-blower, former Columbia employee Michael Marine, who says he was fired after he attempted to correct the fraudulent Medicare claims. The case was filed in federal district court in Miami.
