One afternoon in the early 1970s, Victor Posner dropped by his daughter Gail’s home on Sunset Island for a customary visit.

Posner owned the home off Miami Beach and used its garage to store a refurbished Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which he rarely rode. But on this day, his daughter had been entertaining a handful of friends, one of whom was taking the bike for a spin when the elder Posner arrived.
