Chase Manhattan Corp. has hired New York’s Simpson Thacher & Bartlett as U.S. counsel, and London’s Clifford Chance as United Kingdom counsel, for its $7.7 billion purchase of Robert Fleming Holdings Ltd. Fleming has retained New York’s Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and London’s Allen & Overy. In addition, Chase will receive $780 million from Fleming’s sale to T. Rowe Price Associates Inc. of an existing joint venture between Fleming and T. Rowe Price. T. Rowe Price is represented by Piper Marbury Rudnick & Wolfe , London’s Titmuss Sainer Dechert and New York’s Pollack & Kaminsky.

The Simpson Thacher attorneys representing Chase are partners Lee Meyerson and Dickson Brown, and associates Edward J.H. Chung, Jaclyn Mintz, Elizabeth Lynne and Gary B. Mandel. The Clifford Chance attorneys are lead partner David Childs and junior partner Guy Norman.
