Lawyer Michael Newdow, an atheist who convinced a federal appeals court three years ago that the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance are unconstitutional, returned to court this week in a suit against four Sacramento, Calif.-area school districts on behalf of several atheist children and their families. Newdow, whose first case the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed last year, suffered a setback Monday when the judge said he plans to throw out several parts of the current lawsuit.
