The Supreme Court on Monday left Jim and Rhonda Boucher off its list of accepted cases before the holidays, refusing to hear the couple’s claim that Home Depot copied their Christmas tree stand and its packaging.

In 1988, after struggling to put up the family Christmas tree with a bowl-shaped stand, Jim Boucher took a piece of pipe and designed his own. It worked so well that the Bouchers quit their jobs and started a business, Decorations for Generations.
