A federal judge has awarded Takeda Pharmaceutical $16.8 million plus interest in legal and expert fees in a patent infringement case.
Southern District of New York Judge Denise Cote, in Takeda Chemical Industries v. Mylan Laboratories, 03 Civ. 8253, said the defendant generic drug companies acted with “exceptional misconduct and bad faith” by attempting to infringe on Takeda’s patent on a chemical compound used in the treatment of diabetes.
