Recent firings demonstrate how heightened awareness by advertisers and management, coupled with listeners no longer content with "slap on the wrist" punishments, have turned the DJ's chair into a hot seat. But radio personalities walk a fine line -- they're encouraged to "push the envelope" while under contracts that often contain provisions stating that they can be terminated for offending listeners. According to attorney and DJ Ron Kuby, "If I'm not offending someone every day, I'm not doing my job."
