In the United States, alternative dispute resolution provides an array of effective dispute resolution options to the construction industry.

A survey conducted between 1988 and 2002 of more than 1,000 construction projects reveals that dispute resolution boards (DRBs) resolved disputes allowing the parties to avoid the costs and uncertain outcomes in litigation in 97.9 percent of the cases.
