In another dispute over the rights of undocumented aliens, two New Jersey building contractors are asking the courts to bar suits by workers to recover for injuries at jobs they hold illegally.
The contractors seek dismissal of third-party claims by workers who fell from ladders at construction sites in New Jersey’s Hudson and Essex counties. Both workers were hurt badly and have obtained workers’ compensation benefits, for which illegal aliens are eligible. They can also collect personal injury protection (PIP) benefits and sue for damages in nonjob-related accidents.
