Age and race govern the selection of CNN’s news anchors, an attorney for a former roving anchor for the international television news network told a federal jury in Atlanta this week.

That emphasis on the youthfulness and “complexion” of its television anchors cost Marina Kolbe — a white Canadian woman who had worked for CNN International, CNN USA and CNN Financial — her job, Kolbe’s attorney, Edward D. Buckley III said. “She was drummed out of CNN at the age of 42.”
