The San Francisco Bay oil spill set up a clash between maritime law specialists and plaintiff mass tort lawyers, who have very different ideas about how to clean up a mess.
Some maritime attorneys are advising clients to file administrative claims for damages caused by the spill, while mass tort lawyers seem more inclined to file a lawsuit and let the court help decide the damages.
