Attorneys for H&R Block Financial Advisors have filed an appeal of a Feb. 20 arbitration award of almost $4 million to a former company executive who was denied severance benefits after he declined to sign a two-year non-compete agreement. The company has appealed the decision by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority in federal court, claiming that federal law bars the award, that the arbitration panel exceeded its powers, and that the former executive breached his contract with the company.
