OPINION

Appellant Joseph Bowers was charged by indictment with the offense of murder. The State sought to use Bowers’s two signed confessions. Opposing this, Bowers filed a motion to suppress the confessions. On May 15, 2000, the trial court heard and overruled the motion to suppress. Then, pursuant to a plea bargain, Bowers waived his right to trial by jury, pleaded guilty before the trial court, and received a forty-year sentence in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. On appeal, Bowers brings one point of error complaining of the trial court’s overruling his motion to suppress. We affirm. The applicable standard of appellate review of a trial court’s ruling on a motion to suppress evidence was set out by the court of criminal appeals in Guzman v. State, 955 S.W.2d 85 (Tex. Crim. App. 1997). See Carmouche v. State, 10 S.W.3d 323, 327 (Tex. Crim. App. 2000). Under Guzman, we apply a bifurcated standard of review, giving almost total deference to the trial court’s determination of historical facts and reviewing de novo the court’s application of law.
